I think Marvin must have the keys to the Bethel archives.
Is the Brother Herd mentioned as the DO recipient of this largesse the very same Sammy, now part of the GB?
desperation personal letter to watchtower leader.
today i uploaded a letter to my blog written in 1986 to governing body member albert schroeder.
the author was, at the time, a long-time elder who had done substitute co work and much, much more.

i was thinking about one of the dc talks and the ridiculous twist.. the premise of the talk was that we should avoid being "babylonish", how?
by not being slack in "our" dress and grooming.
the logic?.
You've lost me SS.

People now go to church in casual dress even jeans. Therefore: any one who dresses casually or in jeans is "babylonish". Brilliant on so many levels.
The logic forgets one little fact though. Where the f*@?k did the concept of Sunday best come from. Who started the practice of going to church in a suit and tie?
Did anyone else notice this piece of reasoning, it is one reason why it is worth trying to stave off the convention coma and watch for the launch of the turds.

9 eldersonregionalbuildingcommittees and relief committees work hard to help the brothers.
I think this is going to be my catch phrase from now on. I think that repeating this more than a couple of times will identify anyone as an apostate. You could be in front of a JC just for saying it. Next CS visit just say Look! It’s our circuit overseer! Je- hovah has saved us!, see what he says. I luuuuuuv it. Wht a sh@t eating phrase.
it has been over a month and a half since i have even been on the board, and that really only to ask about gps units (got a tom-tom) and mention the new job.
way too busy with life - post jw now 4 years.. of course, the new job has benefits, health insurance, etc.
(including unlimited use of the company car for personal use and the company pays for the unlimited gas for about a $25/week out of my check -- huge benefit) and this has enabled toni and i to finally after a two year engagement, to get married.
Just lovely!!

9 EldersonRegionalBuildingCommittees and relief committees work hard to help the brothers. They deserve our wholehearted support! Consider the relief effort after Cy- clone Nargis hit Myanmar in 2008. To reach the Bothingone Congregation in the hard- hit Irrawaddy Delta region, the relief team traveled through devastated terrain strewn with corpses. When the local brothers saw that the first relief team to reach Bothingone included their former circuit overseer, they cried out: “Look! It’s our circuit overseer! Je- hovah has saved us!” Do you appreciate the hard work that the elders render day and night? Some elders are appointed to serve on special committees to handle difficult ju- dicial problems. These elders do not brag about what they have accomplished; yet those who benefit from their service are real- ly grateful.—Matt. 6:2-4.
AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHH.
when reading the publications, or sitting bored out of my skull in the meetings, the same scriptures come up all of the time.
matt 24:45 is quoted so often it hurts my hair roots.. is anyone out there capable of indexing scriptures by frequency of use?
which are the most popular?
When reading the publications, or sitting bored out of my skull in the meetings, the same scriptures come up all of the time. Matt 24:45 is quoted so often it hurts my hair roots.
Is anyone out there capable of indexing scriptures by frequency of use? Which are the most popular? There must be oceans of relatively untouched material whilst the old faithfuls are flogged to within an inch of their lives.
I have often thought that what is refered to as "bible study" is just a constant refry of 5% of the actual material. Often when you look up what is said about a reference the individual scripture is bundled with say Micah 1-4. Not a real reference.
If someone using the WTLIB as data could somehow quantify the use of bible references whilst weeding out those that are very wide and general I think the results would be damning and condemning.
I don't have these skills but I am sure someone out there has. Thats what computers are for ain't it.
just felt a tremor in boston and was on the phone when it happened with a coworker in dc - shook the building there :).
must be the last days!.
Breaking news - the earthquake was not felt in England. The casualty rate (unconfirmed) injuries 0, fatalities 0.
On the spot correspondents will interupt the programming if this needs updating. Mrs. Gas-Crumpet from Milton Keynes was reported as saying "I was just watching "Eastenders" when I felt nothing. This immediately made me feel guilty because I should have been having my family worship evening. Still I shouldn't be worshiping the family anyway. i need direction from my head Mr Gas-Crumpet but he is worn out, he is toast.
mrs. rabbit is having surgery later today.. .

Today on the way to field service she had a slow motion crash, rolled her car right over and came to rest back on her wheels. The car was wrecked but she got out with just a few scratches and bruises. The hospital suspected cracked ribs but xrays revealed no damage. I have never met anyone as tough and resilient and as immune to adversity.
She has been a faithful witness for over 60 years and I salute her faithfulness. It don't matter what the rights and wrongs are you have to respect her loyalty. I just wish that the organization she has given such huge chunk of her life for was worthy of her.
This will have been her last time behind the wheel, decades of skillful motoring now at an end.
Sorry about the smoke and mirrors but ya can't be too careful.
